Boxwood
Let’s chat about November’s MMSMP Color of the Month. It’s our deep green, Boxwood!
Like a perfectly manicured topiary, Boxwood is rich and grassy green. Its pastoral tones are lush and leafy. For a classic combination fit for a library study, pair with Ink Blue. Combined with French Enamel and Mustard Seed Yellow for a quaint English Country Cottage feel. When mixed with Ink Blue, it creates a vintage chalkboard finish.
Boxwood is available in our new 100% natural, eco-friendly formula.
So how do you finish your painted pieces? Boxwood changes colors from raw (no finish) to applying finishes. To see how our dark green changes with each finish, take a peek at this photo:
Our favorite way to finish Boxwood pieces is with MilkOil™ Indoor/Hemp Seed Oil. As shown in the photo above, it intensifies the color and highlights the beauty of Boxwood.
Now let’s look at a few pieces where Boxwood was used!
Dressers
Anna from Sky Lark House painted this dresser in Boxwood and paired it with gold knobs for a chic look.
Nicole from Thirteen Hundred North painted this high boy dresser in Boxwood, stained the top and legs, and paired it with gold knobs. She paired this piece with greenery for a boho look.
Paint by Layers created this beautifully aged dresser. Boxwood is a historical green, which makes it perfect for creating chippy and aged pieces! It was sealed using MilkOil™ and MilkWax™ Saddle Brown.
What about wood tones and Boxwood? Klaudia from Furniture Concept created this lovely table with a wood top and Boxwood base. Did you know that you can create a stain using MilkPaint™ in Curio? We think a Curio stain and Boxwood pair perfectly together!
Create a Custom Green
One of our favorite things about MilkPaint™ is how easy it is to create custom colors! Morgan from Revivals Furniture Co created this custom sage color using Boxwood and Carolina Dune. She created this color by mixing 2 parts Boxwood to 1 part Carolina Dune. Morgan finished with Saddle Brown MilkWax™.
Paint Something Small
Don’t want to paint a piece of furniture, use Boxwood on a smaller decor piece. Nancy from Fresh Coat Finishes painted this carpenter’s box in Boxwood.
Decorated for the Holidays
We love Chris from Midwest Cottage and Finds’ antique cabinet. It is painted in Boxwood, sealed with White Wax, and then a bit of Hemp Oil added over the top. The best part? It looks beautiful with a little bit of holiday feel! Add some holiday flare to any Boxwood piece by adding some pine and lights!
