Typewriter
Let’s chat about September’s MMSMP Color of the Month. It’s our beloved black, Typewriter!
Typewriter is a soft black with a time-worn feel. Like the frequently used keys on an antique typewriter, this color is stately enough to adorn the most classically shaped pieces yet humble enough to give the appearance of a well-loved antique. You can add Typewriter to any MilkPaint™ color to change the shade.
Typewriter is available in our new 100% natural, eco-friendly formula.
So how do you finish your painted pieces? Typewriter changes colors from raw (no finish) to applying finishes. To see how our black changes with each finish, take a peek at this photo:
Our favorite way to finish Typewriter pieces is with MilkOil™ Indoor/Hemp Seed Oil. As shown in the photo above, it intensifies the color and highlights the beauty of our soft black.
Now let’s look at a few pieces painted in Typewriter!
Antiqued Pieces
We love seeing Typewriter pieces that have a time-worn feel. You can see this look on this armoire painted by Redhead Refinishings, bench by Lavender Nest Vintage, and dresser by Midwest Cottage & Finds.
If you love the look of antiques, it is easy to create an antiqued look with MilkPaint™. This dresser, by Q is for Quandie, highlights the ability to make a Typewriter-painted piece look tine-worn.
An easy way to achieve an antique look is by distressing your piece and adding original or antique hardware. This piece by Perfectly Imperfect is another beautiful example. This piece was wet-sanded with MilkOil™ Indoor/Hemp Seed Oil to give it a smooth, antiqued look.
Typewriter + Wood Tones
What’s our favorite pairing when it comes to Typewriter? Wood tones! We love how A Moment in Time Designs and Effervescence used wood tones in addition to Typewriter on this trunk and set of nightstands.
Black on Black on Black
We can never get enough of Typewriter, so we were thrilled to see this bedroom set-up using our soft black! Vintage 61 Storehouse created this timeless look by painting the entire bedroom set in Typewriter and decorating it with black and white elements. It is timeless!
