Fall Decorating Inspiration

Fall is right around the corner, and we are ready!

Let’s look at some of our past favorite fall furniture pieces painted in Miss Mustard Seed’s® Milk Paint to get inspired for ways you can decorate this fall.

Tangerine

From the UK, we have this lovely piece by Tweak Home painted in Tangerine. Tangerine reminds us of the dimpled rind of the citrus fruit, pumpkins, and autumn leaves, making it the perfect color to brighten your home for fall.  Tweak Home added fabric pumpkins, tin pitchers, wheat, and foliage to complete this colorful fall look. Try pairing Tangerine with Linen, Mustard Seed Yellow, and Curio for a classic autumn feel.

(Reformulated Tangerine will be available this fall!)

For a chic setup, try pairing Tangerine with Ironstone and Bergere. Imagine pairing a painted vase in Bergere with Tangerine painted pumpkins! Or, try decorating your Tangerine painted piece with antique blue ball jars.

Mustard Seed Yellow

Next, we have this beautiful piece by Nicole from Thirteen Hundred North. Look at all that chippy goodness! This piece is painted in Mustard Seed Yellow and sealed with MilkWax™ Clear with MilkWax™ Antiquing used in a few places. The warm golden tones of this color remind us of autumnal leaves and yellow pumpkins. Nicole decorated with amber jars, pampas grass, wheat, black candlesticks, and pumpkins. For fall, Mustard Seed Yellow looks excellent paired with Ironstone and Curio.

For a quick fall project on a smaller scale, grab some MilkGrip™ Indoor/Bonding Agent and some glass jars. You can re-create this fall look by painting jars in Mustard Seed Yellow, Tricycle, and Tangerine. Fill your jars with any fall foliage, and you have a cute fall centerpiece!

Farmhouse White

Next, let’s take a look at our beloved Farmhouse White. It is the perfect white for any season. Karina from Magnolia Tree Farmhouse painted this chippy piece in our favorite white. She created this fall look by adding amber jars, fall foliage, and of course… pumpkins!

Not into the classic fall colors? Try pairing light wood tones, green foliage, and green and white pumpkins with your favorite MMS white.

Looking for a more whimsical feel? Try painting your pumpkins with our dusty rose, Arabesque, and pairing with Ironstone, Linen, or Farmhouse White.

That’s right, you can paint real pumpkins with MilkPaint™. Elizabeth from Country Peony shows how she painted these pumpkins using MMS products. Read more here.

Typewriter

Now, let’s look at a few pieces painted in Typewriter. It is a soft black with a time-worn feel. This color is stately enough to adorn the most classically shaped pieces yet humble enough to give the appearance of a well-loved antique.

We love the pairing of our soft black and wood tones in this chippy piece painted by Nicole of Thirteen Hundred North. This piece is decorated with old books, candlesticks, amber jars… and we can’t forget the spooky black cat!

We also love the elegance of this cabinet painted by Karina of Magnolia Tree Farmhouse. We love finishing our Typewriter pieces with MilkOil™ Indoor/Hemp Seed Oil to bring out the beauty of our black. Karina decorated her cabinet with pumpkins, natural textures, dried foliage, and antiques.

Want to incorporate Typewriter into your fall decor without painting a large piece? Try painting a thrifted stone planter or vase in our soft black and filling it with wheat or fall foliage.
