Schloss Drop Leaf Table - Parts 2 & 3
Distressing and Finishing a Drop Leaf Table Using Schloss and Furniture Wax
In parts 2 and 3 of this series, I’m sharing how to finish sand and distress a piece you’ve painted with Miss Mustard Seed’s Milk Paint. Then I’ll show you how easy it is to protect it with buttery soft Furniture Wax.
Finish Sanding & Distressing
Because Miss Mustard Seed’s Milk Paint is a powder that is mixed with water, it can have a slightly rough texture when completely dry. This can be a desirable effect if you’re looking to create a rustic layered look.
For this antique drop leaf table, I wanted a smooth surface.

The Results
After two coats of Schloss and a topcoat of Furniture Wax, my antique drop leaf table was put into place. It fits in perfectly with our living room decor, and we’ve already started using it! I’m so happy with the way it turned out, and I encourage you to try Schloss on your next Miss Mustard Seed’s Milk Paint project!
The Furniture Wax brought a subtle warmth to the raw wood top of my table. This soft hand-rubbed finish compliments the age of this piece perfectly.
