Polka Dotted Easter Eggs
Miss Mustard Seed’s® Milk Paint is THE perfect paint to use on raw wood surfaces. It soaks in like an opaque stain giving you gorgeous color while preserving the texture and grain of the wood.
If you’re new to using our products or are looking for a super fun Easter-themed craft project, we’ve got just the right tutorial for you!
Raw Wood Projects From The Unfinished Wood Company
The Unfinished Wood Company is a fabulous source for raw wood craft projects and customized DIY decor. They manufacture hundreds of projects including but not limited to monograms, icons, letters, words, seasonal decor, etc. All of their products are USA-made, custom-cut from high quality materials and created with precision craftsmanship. They’re located outside of Atlanta, Georgia and have excellent customer service. They graciously partnered with us to supply these beautiful raw wood slotted Easter eggs for our tutorial, and we couldn’t wait to transform them with MMS Milk Paint!
The European Collection
The colors in our European Collection are soft, muted pastels inspired by the food, architecture and culture of Europe. They are a perfect fit for Easter or Spring-themed projects, and was a no-brainer to opt for these colors to finish our trio of wooden eggs!
These colors are so much fun to mix and are great options if you’re new to MMS Milk Paint. Some of our colors are a bit tricky to work with (like Boxwood), but these colors come together easily using any of our mixing methods.
We decided to use these combinations for our eggs:

St. Patrick’s Day “Luck” Sign
While we were making our Easter eggs, we also whipped up this St. Patrick’s Day sign:
We used equal parts Boxwood, Lucketts Green and Teal Ocean for the letters L, C and K. For the clover, we used straight Lucketts Green. We added polka dots and dashes around the edges for a border using Marzipan. To bring out the depth of our greens, we sealed everything in Hemp Oil.
Making Custom Colors With Leftover Milk Paint
Even though we only mixed 1 tablespoon of each European Color, we wound up with left over paint. Instead of throwing it away, we whipped up some custom colors and painted them out on wooden stir sticks.
The results are pretty awesome!
We encourage you to mix your own custom colors with your MMS Milk Paint leftovers! What would happen if you mixed Layla’s Mint with Arabesque? How about Schloss and Layla’s Mint? The possibilities are endless!
(P.S. - We’ve got a great blog post with tips on mixing your own custom colors here.)
