Milk Paint Office Inspiration
At a time when so many of us are working and schooling from home, we’re spending more time in our offices than we ever have in the past. We’ve been inspired by some gorgeous Miss Mustard Seed’s Milk Painted office spaces this week, and we’d love to inspire you to give yours a spruce!
Miss Mustard Seed’s Milk Painted Desks
The desk is the central hub of the office. It’s where you computer lives, it holds your coffee (all 3 cups of it) and is your primary work surface for your tasks. Desks can come in all different shapes and styles, and they are a perfect canvas for Milk Paint!
Our Social Media Manager, Chris Hardine of Midwest Cottage and Finds, has the most darling office space!
Chris used Farmhouse White on her writing desk as well as the little filing cabinet off to the side. Her chair was hydrated with our Hemp Oil wood finish for a classic look.
This handsome desk is as sleek as they come! Our Move Mountains Facebook Group Member, Lucianne, refinished it in Typewriter and Hemp Oil. It could easily function as a desk or a makeup vanity.
We like how Lucianne didn’t limit her desk to an office room. Any free area in your home can become an office. Desks can fit in hallways, corners, behind sofas, and even in the kitchen! Don’t be limited by the notion that an “office” needs to be a completely separate room in your home.
Klaudia of Furniture Concept refinished this gorgeous desk in Linen and sealed it with Furniture Wax.
For the top, she used Curio as a stain and sealed it with Tough Coat for durability.
Even the wall behind the desk is painted in Miss Mustard Seed’s® Milk Paint! Klaudia mixed Curio as a stain and sealed the wall with Hemp Oil. This Poland-based artist has a gorgeous signature layered effect that she applies to all of her gorgeous makeovers.
Think outside the box when it comes to desks. They don’t have to be a proper “desk” piece of furniture. Take a look at this farmhouse table that our Blog Manager and Email Marketer, Jenn Baker, finished in Mora. for example.
While it could certainly function as a table, Jenn is using it for her office desk. The top was raw wood, and she gave it 2 thin coats of White Wax for a gorgeous effect.
For all of you wood lovers out there, consider hydrating your desk with our Hemp Oil Wood Finish. It did a great job reviving this pine kneehole desk in Miss Mustard Seed’s home in Minnesota.
Milk Painted Office Bookshelves and Cabinets
A computer isn’t the only thing you need in an office. There are books, manuals, notebooks, binders, supplies, etc. If your desk looks like this Grain Sack farm table, where can you store all of your extra goodies?
Bookshelves and cabinets will take care of your storage needs!
This antique cabinet was refinished by Move Mountains Facebook Group Member, Gina. Imagine all of the supplies you could store in here!
Jan Scott is also a member of our Facebook group, and her cabinet storage is attached to her desk. How convenient is that?
Check out how a few coats of Ironstone with Bonding Agent lightened the footprint of this multi-functional office desk:
Jan stripped the top and watered down Ironstone to make a whitewash. (You can learn how to whitewash here.) To protect the top, she applied a polyurethane. Our Tough Coat would do the trick nicely!
Marcia Clark of Freckle Face Furniture has a sewing room in her home, and this Kitchen Scale hutch cabinet keeps her haberdasheries neat and tidy.
Miss Mustard Seed keeps all of her art supplies organized in this Boxwood cabinet behind her desk (painted in Grain Sack).
If you’re an online shop owner who does a lot of shipping, wouldn’t it be nice to have a station like this? Jennifer Fox of Bored House Wifery on Instagram, has this gorgeous farm table/wrapping station/craft storage area in her home. She refinished the top of the table with Curio and sealed it with Hemp Oil. The legs are painted in a custom blend she whipped up and have been sealed in Antiquing Wax.
If you need to add storage to your office, considering building your own, or grabbing easy-to-assemble raw wood cupboards.
This closet was hand-made to fit Miss Mustard Seed’s studio, however you can purchase pre-assembled options from IKEA, like the IVAR.
Miss Mustard Seed’s Milk Paint is GREAT for raw wood, and would give this boring pine storage piece some personality! Learn what makes our Milk Paint the perfect product for raw wood here:
Office Chalkboards
Adding a chalkboard behind or near your desk can help you stay organized. Look at this one behind a charming Farmhouse White desk by Heather Young of Flea Market Chic Decor!
Chris Hardine cleverly framed her office wall light with a chalkboard painted in our vintage green blend (3 parts Boxwood + 2 parts Artissimo).
This office wall chalkboard was part of a whole room makeover Miss Mustard Seed completed for her friend, Megan.
Our paint is available in bulk sizes for large wall projects, like this. Talk to your local retailer or reach out to us about bulk size options and pricing at hello@mmsmilkpaint.com.
Jenn Baker made this chalkboard for her home office using Aviary.
Who says a chalkboard needs to be black or green? Heck, make a pink one if you want!
We’ll be posting a tutorial video to demonstrate how Jenn made this chalkboard directly on her wall, so stay tuned for that!
