Linen
Let’s chat about September’s MMSMP Color of the Month. It’s our cream, Linen!
The subtle warmth of this sweet cream is woven all throughout, just like the fibers of rustic linen fabric. It's lighter than Marzipan and doesn't have the same nutty almond tones. Linen reminds us of being wrapped in your coziest lambswool sweater, snuggling into your favorite upholstered chair, and the worn pages of an antique copy of your favorite book.
Linen is available in our new 100% natural, eco-friendly formula.
So how do you finish your painted pieces? Linen changes colors from raw (no finish) to applying finishes. To see how this cream changes with each finish, take a peek at this photo:
Linen and the Coastal Collection
Linen is a part of the Coastal Color Collection. It pairs well with the collection's colors, Teal Ocean, By the Sea, Aqua Sky, Carolina Dune, and Sunkissed.
Now let’s dive more into this color!
A Versatile Neutral
Linen is a versatile color that can be used in a variety of decorating styles, from traditional to contemporary. Refreshing your furniture and decor with Linen can give your home a fresh and sophisticated feel.
For a traditional look, consider pairing Linen with warm wood tones and classic patterns. Think ornate wood furniture, floral prints, and elegant fabrics. Linen also works well with muted colors like sage green and dusty blue, creating a calming and timeless atmosphere.
If you prefer a more modern look, try pairing Linen with sleek lines and bold accents. Think minimalist furniture, graphic prints, and metallic accents. Linen can also be paired with bright colors like Mustard Seed Yellow or Flow Blue for a fun and playful vibe. No matter what your decorating style, painting your furniture and decor with Linen is a great way to create a cohesive and stylish look.
Linen and The Chippy Look
One of our favorite parts of MilkPaint™ is it’s ability to naturally chip. Creating a chippy piece is a great way to add some charm and character to your home decor. Linen is perfect for the chippy look! We love the look of it chipped back to wood for an authentic antique look.
So how do you achieve this look? First, you'll need to start by prepping your piece by giving it a thorough clean, then sanding. Next, mix up your MilkPaint™ and paint 2-3 layers onto your piece. Let the paint dry, then use a scraper or sandpaper to remove small sections of the paint until you achieve the desired level of distressing. Finally, apply a finish to prevent the piece from chipping further. We recommend using MilkCoat™ to protect your newly finished furniture and enjoy its unique, chippy charm.
