Custom Colors for Spring

Happy Valentine’s Day!

What’s sweet and has cute sayings? Conversation heart candies! We love the pastel colors of these Valentine’s Day staples. So, we thought why not incorporate these colors into a project that can be used throughout the spring!

One of our favorite things about MilkPaint™ is the ability to create custom colors! We created 6 custom colors for this project. If you’re looking to mix up your usual color palette, then you’ll definitely enjoy these custom color recipes! Let’s go over what you will need to recreate these colors

How to Interpret Custom Color Recipes

Our color recipes will be given in a formula that reads something like “1 part Arabesque + 2 parts Ironstone”. A part is whatever unit of measurement you wish to use. It could be a tablespoon, cup, gram, etc. You can use these custom color recipes to create large batches of powder that you store in a lidded container and use later, or you can mix them in a cup and add water to use them right away for your project. The choice is up to you!

Baby Pink

First, we created this pastel pink using February’s color of the month!

To create this pastel pink, we mixed 1 part Arabesque + 2 parts Ironstone. This creates the perfect baby pink that reminds us of spring blossoms.

Butter Yellow

Next, we created a light yellow.

To create this pastel yellow, we mixed 1 part Sunkissed + 2 parts Ironstone. This creates a soft, buttery yellow that is perfect for any spring project!

Spring Green

To create this pastel green, we mixed 1 part Lucketts Green + 2 parts Ironstone. This creates the perfect spring green that can be used any time of year!

Light Aqua

To create this light blue-green, we mixed 1 part Aqua Sky + 2 parts Ironstone. This creates a light turquoise color, that has a soft and soothing feel.

Light Apricot

To create this pastel orange, we first had to create an Apricot color. We created this color by mixing 5 parts Sunkissed + ¼ part of Tricycle.

Then we mixed 1 part Apricot + 2 parts Ironstone. This creates the perfect light apricot that can be used any time of year!

Lilac

To create this pastel purple, we mixed 1 part Dried Lavender + 2 parts Ironstone. This creates a beautiful light purple that has a sophisticated feel.

Painted Hearts

After mixing all of our custom colors, we painted our wooden hearts. These hearts can be used all throughout the spring to add pops of color!
