Bespoke Blue Wardrobe

Furniture Feature Friday

Every Friday, we feature a beautiful Miss Mustard Seed’s® Milk Paint project in our Move Mountains With Milk Paint Facebook Group - a thriving and bustling online community where creative minds come together to inspire, help and encourage one another.

This week’s featured piece is a beautiful and moody wardrobe painted in a bespoke mix of our blues by one of our Polish retailers, Klaudia of Furniture Concept.

Meet Klaudia of Furniture Concept

Did you know that we have Miss Mustard Seed’s® Milk Paint retailers all over the world? Klaudia is based in Wolow, Poland, and she sells our Milk Paint along with her beautiful furniture on her website.

Her method and techniques for aging and painting furniture are a trade secret, but she was kind enough to share the MMS Milk Paint products she used on her latest creation - this beautiful wardrobe!

A Bespoke Blend of Blues

To create the beautiful shade of blue on her wardrobe, Klaudia mixed up 2 parts Aviary, 3 parts Flow Blue and 1 part Artissimo.

Once her custom shade of blue was mixed, Klaudia was ready to start work on her project. The wood was naturally dark, providing the perfect backdrop for her signature painting style. Because she wanted an aged effect, Klaudia decided not to prep sand it.

Her vision began to come to life after each layer of Milk Paint she applied.

Notice how Klaudia didn’t worry about the natural color variations in her Milk Paint. She let it do its Milk Paint thing!

Aging the Wardrobe

Once Klaudia was satisfied with the layers of her bespoke blue, she began her signature aging process.

Notice that as she distressed and added age, the Milk Paint began to look a little ashy and smokey. That’s very typical when you distress our darker colors like Artissimo, Typewriter, Aviary and Boxwood. Once you apply a topcoat, those colors come to life and the ashy appearance disappears!

For a project like this, you could use Hemp Oil to make those blues super rich and deep. Top it with some Antiquing Wax and you’ll have instant age! The possibilities are endless when you let your imagination run wild using Miss Mustard Seed’s® Milk Paint!

Klaudia sealed her piece with our Furniture Wax followed by Antiquing Wax for age.

Aged to Perfection

Once Klaudia sealed her piece, her signature aged effect was complete!

Just look at all of that yummy aging!

This is the beautiful result of combining Klaudia’s talent and eye for design with the natural behavior of our Milk Paint. Its randomly chippy nature, color variations and primitive feel make it a perfect paint product for creating a finish like this.
